What Novaris is

A Metin2 server with the classic game -the four classes, the three kingdoms, the maps you know- plus a few changes so levelling is bearable and you do not spend your life farming. Max level 99. Nothing to pay: the shop runs on dragon coins you earn by playing and at events.

1. Create an account and log in

1. Create an account. The website username and password are the same as the game ones. The password is at most 16 characters: that is a limit of the game itself.
2. Download the client and open the launcher. It checks that you have the latest version and downloads it for you; its settings button changes the language, the resolution and the rest of the options.
3. Log in with your account. There is only one channel, so there is nothing to choose.

2. Choosing a character

There are four classes, each with two skill branches chosen at level 5:

• Warrior: melee. Body branch (two-handed sword, lots of staying power) or mental branch (sword and shield).
• Ninja: fast. Bow branch (ranged) or dagger branch (heavy close damage, little defence).
• Sura: sword and magic. Weapon branch (magic warrior) or black magic branch (spells).
• Shaman: support. Dragon branch (ranged attack) or healing branch (heals and party buffs).

The kingdom (Shinsoo, Chunjo or Jinno) only changes the map you start on and who you can attack on the war maps. If you are playing with friends, pick the same one.

3. The first levels

• Kill whatever is around the village. At every level the game offers you extra experience for killing a few monsters: it is automatic, you do not have to talk to anyone.
• The yang monsters drop goes straight into your pocket, you do not need to pick it up.
• As you level up you will get level chests (from the Apprentice chest to the Grand Master one) with gear and potions for that stage. Open them.
• Items stack up to 500, so potions and materials take little room.
• Press U: that is the special storage, with three sections (upgrade items, stones and books) separate from your normal inventory.

4. Drops

The drop rate is x3 over the official tables. To find out what a monster drops you have two places: in the game, the arrow next to the target health bar opens the drop window; and on the website, the page of each monster and each item (which says who drops it).

5. The biologist chain

From level 30 to 96, Biologist Chaegirab asks you for items dropped by monsters of your level. Each delivery gives a permanent bonus (speed, defence, attack...). You can only deliver once every 22 hours, so start early. All the details in quests.

6. Dragon coins and the shop

Every new account starts with 100 dragon coins. You get more at events, by voting for the server and by bringing friends. You spend them in the shop; whatever you buy shows up in the game mailbox (the envelope icon).

7. If something goes wrong

• If the launcher says there is a new version, let it finish before playing.
• If you get kicked at character selection, close the game completely and open the launcher again.
